    TRANSCRIPT

Welcome to the Come Closer podcast promo This is Come Closer, a podcast that's going to focus on the art of intimacy and connection. I'm Kim Erin. I'm a life and leadership coach, and I am obsessed with intimacy. I am obsessed with connecting with others. And the reason that I am obsessed with those two topics is because they have been transformative in my own life and my own experience, and I believe that the only way that we are going to survive this AI, social media, dating app, online Reddit forum world is by coming closer to one another IRL. And the reason that this has come to the surface for me is because I teach a course at a local university called Creative Thinking, and it's essentially an analog course. I tell my students, "There is no AI in this class. What I want are your raw ideas, what I want are your experiences, and I wanna hear your voice." And what ends up happening in this class, because I have my students working in small groups, I have them talking to each other, I have them sharing ideas with one another, they become friends. And the saddest, most heartbreaking part of this experience has been that multiple semesters in a row, I've had my students report back to me that this is the first class that they have had in their college experience where they've actually made a friend. They are not talking to one another. They are not learning about each other. And so I am looking at this space as a space to facilitate conversation about how we create a world where people are less lonely, where people are more connected, where people are feeling enriched and enlivened by others. And truly, the way that you do that is by engaging in conversation. So the way that this podcast is going to go is we're going to focus on three areas of intimacy. Self-intimacy, getting to know yourself and becoming an expert in who you are And what you like and what you want. We're going to explore intimacy with others, and this is going to be both in relationship romantically, friendship, relationships at work, and then also relationship with community. How do we become more engaged and connected with groups of people? And then we're gonna take a look at why all of that matters. We're gonna bring experts in. I'm going to host conversations with experts who know what they're doing in each of these areas. They are explicitly clear on how to become close with yourself, close with others, and/or close with community. And then that expert and I are going to get closer to one another. We are going to engage in curiosity, in vulnerability. We're going to share stories. We're going to play games, and you all are going to get to witness the experience of two people getting closer. So I hope that you join me on this journey. I am also crazy interested in hearing from you all. What do you want to know more about? There are so many topics that we can explore. I want to-- I'm hungry and curious about all of them as it relates to intimacy, and nothing is off the table. Nothing is too taboo. Let's get into it. Let's build a world together where we have highly connected, less isolated, lit up human beings because truly that's what our world needs right now. More to come. Stay tuned. I'm excited to come closer.
