Writers Are Toxic

And I love you anyway

Here's the thing I've been thinking about lately as I doom scroll past the writers of Instagram and listen to my salty writer friends - Writers are f-ing toxic.

What do I mean by toxic?

My successful writer friends - the ones with books and agents - many have a toxic chip on their shoulders about the industry that they spread to everyone at cocktail parties and beyond. They make it sound like a burden to have "made it".

My wannabe writer friends (might I add insanely talented crew who just AREN'T writing) have a million toxic excuses for why they aren't putting their plump little asses in the seat and getting going on their pet project. Be it kids, laundry, bills - they can go on and on about why they aren't writing (Full disclosure - it me!)

My writer friends who ARE writing but they are endlessly researching and editing the same chapter over and over and over again have the toxic habit of second guessing themselves, their value, the meaning and purpose of their work.

See, all of the above, TOXIC, TOXIC, TOXIC.

Want to know how to combat all of the above and to become non-toxic? Apply your ass to the seat over and over and over again and then do it again the next week.

Work.

Work is the antidote to toxic habits, attitudes and mindsets. Get your freaking writing done and eliminate the toxic writer persona from your narrative for good.
